Message from Darrell Wampler, President:
All of my life, I’ve sought this type of opportunity. Broadcasting to make a difference. While on the air in Los Angeles, the station was a different sort. Kind of wild, whacky, and on the fringe, you know, different. Wherever I’ve gotten involved, great things have followed. I think I have a nature to nurture good folks, and surround myself with people that we would all know, like, and trust. Taking KTHO live and local again will be a weighty project, which we will take in steps to bring radio back to the community. We’re going to give lots of folks a chance for their voices to be heard and their talents stretched. We’re going to promote local businesses and events. We’re going to broadcast live from local events. Where people are, KTHO will be there as well. We appreciate your support and feedback. I can be contacted directly at DW@KTHORADIO.COM

Curtis Fong, “The Guy From Tahoe” was the first on-hill photographer at Kirkwood Meadows Ski Area when they opened in the early 70’s. He then became the Advertising and PR Director for Kirkwood in the late 70’s-early 80’s before moving to the South Shore of Lake Tahoe where he worked with KTHO AM 590 and became the Station Manager of KZFR 103FM. In the Mid 80’s he served as the Director of Marketing for Sierra Ski Ranch, before returning to Lake Tahoe Radio as a Sales Manager.
Charles Lee “Char-Lee” Simons has been entertaining since the age of eight, putting on comedy shows for the neighborhood kids and any unfortunate dinner guests of his parents. No one was immune. Once Charlee discovered that he could actually get paid for it, he was on fire! After a successful radio and television career in the San Francisco Bay area, Charlee decided to take things a little slower by returning to his roots in California’s Central Valley where he could actually buy a house with a back yard. Getting bored with that (and his dogs had destroyed the backyard), Charlee was off to Los Angeles to work with Comedy Sportz International in Hollywood for a year honing his improvisational comedy skills. It was then off to Sacramento where he ruled the afternoons on 101.9 The WOLF until getting the dream job for any good ol’ boy in the radio business, Nashville, TN as the afternoon drive personality and Production Director position at WGSQ The Country Giant. Whether it is voice acting, voiceover, on-camera commercials, television writing, acting and producing (you can currently see his work on the Urban America Television Network’s show “411”), Charlee has brought it all with his wonderful wife, An’Jurhee, and their two dogs, to their new forever home, LAKE TAHOE, where he is feeling amazingly blessed to be the new morning show host on KTHO AM & FM and, frankly, he couldn’t be happier!
